RACEMAKE: The Next-Gen Racing Telemetry is here!

When I launched SETSBASE in August 2020, it was just meant to be a fun project during the COVID era. Honestly, I didn’t expect it to grow into something bigger. And I certainly didn’t foresee the long and fascinating journey ahead – full of challenges, unexpected situations, personal growth, and enrichment. SETSBASE was a marketplace focused on car setups for racing simulators – a niche market that didn’t even exist at the time.

RACEMAKE, a spin-off of SETSBASE, is the natural next step. Why? Car setups are done to squeeze every millisecond out of the car on the track, and telemetry is the only way to measure every parameter. Telemetry has been around since the 1970s, but its format became fixed at the beginning of this millennium, remaining a product mainly for racing teams and their engineers.

RACEMAKE is a next-gen platform that completely redefines how we look at racing telemetry. What was once the privilege of professionals is now accessible to a much broader audience of enthusiasts, thanks to sim racing. But let’s face it – the user experience in this space has remained stuck in the early 2000s.

Our goal wasn’t just to modernize; we wanted to revolutionize the game. Most “non-pro” users could only extract the bare minimum from telemetry, even though the data is an absolute gold mine. We’ve transformed that data into a form that is accessible and, most importantly, easy to understand for everyone. We’ve created an intuitive environment that breaks away from the old “graphs only” approach and makes telemetry available to anyone.

Now, every sim racer can quickly understand exactly where they’re losing those precious tenths of a second per lap.

We had high expectations, but after the first feedback and reviews, I can confidently say we’ve surpassed even our own goals. We’ve brought something revolutionary to the market, taking user value to the next level.

And what’s so revolutionary about it? We took complex data and transformed it into a visual form that’s natural and easy to understand, even without relying on traditional graphs. Under the hood, however, runs a robust infrastructure built on data science and engineering, ensuring accuracy and speed.

Our team worked on developing RACEMAKE for 10 solid months, with the first research kicking off 18 months ago. During that time, we developed a sort of “professional tunnel vision” – we lost perspective on what we were creating. Keeping the project secret for so long made us forget how good it actually was. Surprisingly, that was one of the hardest parts of the whole journey for me personally.

And yet, despite everything we’ve achieved so far, we still have a much longer journey ahead than the one we’ve taken since 2020. Technology is constantly evolving, and we’ve only just peeked down the rabbit hole of data science and engineering. We’re about to bring what currently feels a bit like science fiction to life.
